Industry Briefing - Australian Energy Policy: Unfinished Business? (May 2015)

Energy industry stakeholders were invited to attend one of a series of policy briefings and panel discussions conducted in in Sydney and Brisbane in May by Institute Executive Director Robert Pritchard.

Each briefing provided participants with an analysis of:

  • What’s right and what’s wrong with Australian energy policy?
  • Can investors have confidence in the current policy?
  • Is the current policy likely to survive the next electoral cycle intact?
  • How is climate policy to be integrated with energy policy?
  • Is there a need for further reform and what are the real barriers to this?
  • What future role might the COAG Energy Council play?

These briefings followed the release of the Energy White Paper by the Commonwealth Minister for Industry and Science.

Each participant was provided with a table comparing and contrasting the Energy White Paper and the Institute’s nine policy recommendations.

Each briefing and panel discussion included leading energy industry figures from each centre.
